In discussing the exigency of the situation, we should refer to the present as tomorrow's past. Debating the origins of the crisis does nothing to solve the crisis. We must become forward thinkers and tackle the challenges of today, not just for survival but because of the opportunities to be soon realized.
Consider that a line can be defined by two points- a start point and an end point. Resolving Climate Change is looking at the line of humanity from its "beginning". At the present, 90 Nuclear Reactors in the US provide for 20% of domestic energy supply, and resolving to change that quantity to 70% not only fixes the past but connects us forward to the future.
Space and space travel is the "end point" for the line of humanity. We cannot wait to resolve all of Earth's problems before we start to think of the next step - how to get off of Earth and spread to the edges of the cosmos. Nuclear power is a critical component to powering the future- space travel, life support, and industry.
Road is long and difficult, but it is the path in front of us.
